There are worlds, where you jump clothed with a red cap over polygon bushes. Some cruise through dangerous areas like Vice City or walk through fantastic landscapes called Azeroth. You hear about lands, where each day of the week is associated with a specific color of clothing, states, where you should not reveal the soles of your feet to others and then there are lands, where you are asked to take off your shoes before entering a home. 

There are cities, people spend most of their time in cafés, villages, where they have a siesta, there are whole metropolises, where scrawny girls pace catwalks, places where you won’t think people speak your language because their dialect is that strong. There are cities, where it is custom either to drink champagne in public means of transport or to chauffeur daddy’s Chevrolet. And then, there is Berlin.

In Berlin it is fancy, to be poor. Living there is true to the motto: poor, but sexy. Even Governing Mayor of Berlin made that out. Besides actual capital campaign slogans like“be loud, be blunt, be Berlin”, the motto “be poor, be sexy, be Berlin” should also be advertised on posters or shown in the “Berliner Fenster”, the underground goggle-box.

Since surviving with a minimum of means, wearing your younger brothers raddled cloth and living off canned soup is fancy in Berlin, it is also usual to live in hip districts with deprived but intellectual fastidiously inhabitants at a high percentage. People live in old buildings in need of renovation, ideally in situation of squatting.

These districts are characterized by crumbling facades, discounters, Turkish vegetable stails and kebab shops. On your way to next supermarket you have to race through the classic Berlin-dog-dirt-slalom. Nowhere else (in Germany) staying out late boozing, growing lonely and smothering is as easy as in Berlin. This is the love-hate, separating and connecting players in this daily routine game…

Many people won’t accept the truth, but for a considerable time you may watch a terrifying trend: From filth to chic. Just as cheeky skateboard girl Avril Lavigne turned into a premium-punk with own perfume collection, someday even the last dirty corner in Berlin will be prettied up. An alternative man-made house is sold and will be substituted by an uptown with mall. All over the town the renovation-devil goes around. Being poor does not seem to be sexy anymore. This fact abruptly figured, when Bob and I came back to Berlin after a few days in the country.

Like many others we lived in an old 80ies style building, equipped with all that goes with it: grey walls, leaking pipes, a brash janitor. But when we entered our sink-estate-hallway, we asked ourselves how we missed out, that year 2011 arrived in our district. The walls suddenly in clear white, banisters in azure, a date enquiry for painting the doorframe fixed at our entrance.

The landlord asks via E-Mail, if we like to use the new online service for claim reports. And as early as next day, after four month of waiting and endless calls with the janitor, a plumber comes to repair the plughole.Our little neighborhood’s cosmos is turned upside down. Surely soon architects’ offices and health food stores will spring up like mushrooms.

Since we don’t have a dog, Bob and I are anyway taken for nerds. And now we of all people are living in a newly painted poser domicile among public housing. Outlaws! The only solution is: to move!

Just fancy, your little sister discovering the fantastic world of online gaming. But what will be here favorites? Not the cool fighting MMORPGs or exciting aero space browsergames her older brother is playing. She will jump and run as Hello Kitty, bake cakes and dress little manga style girls. A horror scenario!

But what if there was a real cool, exciting and gloomy make over game?

What if your little sister would pick the right clothes, make up and accessories for Marilyn Manson instead of Miley Cyrus?

1. The game would be great for both genders. So that it would be a rescue for your gaming delinquent brother, too.
2. The make over’s result doesn’t have to look good!
3. Thinking about the right color combination is not necessary, since all clothes are black.
4. But there will be the possibility to change the eyes’ color, namely individually for each.
5. Knifes, skull rings and piercings instead of glitter-earrings and hairbows.
6. In a special challenge tattoos will have to be designed. Maybe one or two will find their individual calling in it.
7. The Marilyn Manson make over game is a good training and brainstorming for the next Halloween party.
8. I don’t know if Marilyn Manson’s music is a plus for everyone – that’s a matter of taste – but anyway it will be much better than the usual tootling, accompanying make over games.
9. Maybe the game would even be that good, that you will test it, too?!
10. But the most important reasons for creating a make over game starring Marilyn Manson, is the possibility to transform your little sister from an annoying Hannah Montana fan into a hip gothic girl.

Just fancy a new generation cool teenie girls not giving a shit about lipgloss and superficial pop music. A dark gamer girl next door surely would be a real recovery for some older brothers among you, since the Marilyn Manson make over will only be the beginning of your sister’s transformation…

Bob and I are living in an 2 ½ room-apartment in an old building with high ceilings and large doors. The hallway’s walls haven’t been painted since more than 30 years, I guess.

Walking through this gippy tummy brown coloured building with my pink sneakers, the I-Pod in the one hand and my eye-catching friend BOB at the other hand, sometimes makes me feel like being a futuristic figure in an 80ies setting.

But Iam not referring to the freaky flashy 80ies, where everyone wore a pair of leggings and an extremely untidy hair style with washed out coloration. Propably my pink sneakers and I  wouldn’t even attracted attention then. I mean the dull side of the 80ies, that made you think about cold war and other serious stuff.

But most times I don’t even mind the brown walls. I’m just going along. But then, one day, there was a curious garment in our hallway…

A classic fur coat hung with its coat hanger between the letterboxes. It didn’t have no place in there. Wouldn’t you know it. Nevertheless, it was there.

Next day the coat was still in the house, but it hung over the banister. I really hold fur coats cheap – for the reason of Bob’s sake alone –  but this wasn’t fair in my view.  That is why I fixed it at a stair before we left the house.

When Bob and I came back, the coat lay on the cellar stairway’s steps. Bob said: Maybe he wants to go into the cellar? I found that really ridiculous. But indeed next day the fur coat was gone.

And it just fade away, though it was a very special thing. But the coat was simply gone and no one wasted much thought on it, not even Bob.

But then yesterday! Yestarday Bob came up from the cellar. He was very excited, since he discovered the fur coat there. Never I had been to the cellar, but I wanted to see it again.

And it was true. This curious garment hang there in front of a cellar door with all the other abandoned stuff. Old suitcases, dumped hardware, half of a shoe.

And suddenly the curious fur coat didn’t look that abandoned and incongruous anymore…

Surely, now and then you got the chance to take part at a LAN party. You meet your friends, aquaintances, computer nerds, chubby neighbors, haughty guys and canapés bringing mothers in suburban homes, youth clubs, gyms or empty storehouses.

But have you ever been on a  LAN party with a star, a real celebrity? Maybe Britney won the battle for you?! Not enough? Then imagine playing your favourite computer game in a VIP’s house. What about having a LAN party at Hugh Hefner’s stately home…

Playing games at Hugh’s

1. Hugh Hefner’s home is not only a house, it’s a villa, it’s the Playboy Mansion!
2. Hugh is a real party genius. Maybe he wouldn’t even notice our little LAN party among the others…
3. Nevertheless, his huge estate would accommodate houndreds of players. This would be one of the biggest LAN parties ever!
4. Hugh and his girls already gained experience in game playing with Playboy the Mansion.
5. Playboy mension has an immense golf course for bone-jarring and training accuracy during pc gaming breaks.
6. Relaxing in the famous grotto-style pools with lovely view of the golf course.
7. Maybe you would even get the chance of becoming a TV-star in The Girls Next Door.
8. Well, did I already mention the bunnies?
9. Hugh lately got engaged. So, all the girls are free for the party people!
10. And last but not least the 10 th reason for having a LAN party at Hugh Hefner’s house is, that you will have time for boring levelling and stuff like that. Because – to be honest – who wants to play computer games in HUGH HEFNER’s house???

Early 13th and 14th January an anonymous offender published two entries in free MMORPG Runes of Magic‘s forum. In these he threatened to make customers and in-company data public.

Further the offender published more than 2.000 login-records in an entry, which was immediately deleted by Frogster. Users’ data is any longer totally safe!

Attack on user data

With posting the login-records the offender also published a list of claims concerning community communication and technical aspects of gaming. This is a blackmailing-attempt, which is a serious punishable act. Accordingly, Frogster built a task force for clarifying the incident and reported about the attack to the proper police.

The published login-data were records, applied in 2007. For safety reasons affected accounts, including account-, forum- and game-access, were closed temporary. Publisher informed the respective players personally about the reasons and possibilities to reactivate their account.

All players are encouraged to change all their keywords for safety reasons. Naturally playing Frogster games trouble-free is futhermore possible for all not affected gamers.

European developer nurusoft calls interested gaming freaks all over the world up to have a try at  Elarien. You may register for pre-alpha test of nurusoft’s new upcoming online strategy browser game Elarien until February, 13th.

But the alpha test version of Elarien will already be playable from January 25th onwards. An international set-up and the english server will enable testing the new browser game for gamers worldwide.

Developer wishes for experienced browser gamers, because testers will have the chance to fill in an application-form and take part in alpha testing forum. Nurusoft already worked in projects for Nintendo, Playtech or Fujitsu. Now they are testing their first free browsergame – with your help. Elarien is announced to be released in spring 2011.

But what is Elarien about?

In funny illustrated world of Elarien you will find islands with charming characters like the flying wild ass, a mixture of monkey and pegasus. The game contains strategy-games-usual features like building empires, plundering, farming. Also real time battles and trading is offered.

Elarien focuses on community acting. For example you may combine armies to one force for participating huge combats. Further nurusoft promises to reward your ideas and improvement suggestions and update the browser game regularly with expansion packages.

Gaming balance and levelling will be improved with the new patch, that was added to free MMORPG Martial Empires. Late last year publisher gamigo interviewed all players about strengths and weaknesses of their free MMORPG Martial Empires.

Above all players criticized levelling tempo and balance between the quests difficulty and the attendant prizes.

Easier levelling

First of all the enemies living points were changes and levelling tempo was boosted 10 to 30 % in some level parts. Even the prizes were adapted to quests’ severty. More gold and better items are promised to go with this patch.

This may be due to that, primarily low-level players complained about not getting healing or mana drinks. As gamigo announced, also the chars’ mana consumption was criticized, so that diverse skills now require 10 to 50 % less mana.

Further updates

For next weeks further updates are announced to improve free MMORPG Martial Empries’ gameplay. Interestingly that korean publisher launched a similar update a few days ago.

2. Graphics and costumes would be extraordinary.
3. In her Monster Ball Tour Lady Gaga already gained experience in fighting against big monster bosses.
4. Paparrazi are guaranteed.
5. The world of Lady Gaga offers numerous futuristic places and maps.
6. Building guilds is wished-for. Lady Gaga loves crowd.
7. Great PvP-quests are guaranteed, cos as Lady Gaga you have to fight for your own against all your enviers.
8. Your weapons will be as crazy as fire spraying bras.
9. Background music would be gagatastic!
10. But the knock-down argument for making a free MMORPG with Lady Gaga is, that she probably is the incarnate hero of a crazy futuristic comic-strip. She just doesn’t know yet. So it is our assignment to help her and send her back in her own world!
